Global Crisis and Economic Fundamentals: Its Impact on Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN Countries

Foreign direct investment has an important role in the running of a country's economy. This study aims to analyze macroeconomic fundamentals consisting Gross Domestic Product (GDP), interest rates, exchange and exports influencing Direct Investment (FDI) ASEAN 6 region (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnamese). The data used are from 1990-2019 sourced World Bank UNCTAD. method is panel regression time series with best model selection, namely Random Effect Model. results analysis show that GDP, determinants FDI significant probability value. positive direction coefficient indicated by GDP rate variables, while rates indicate negative coefficient. time-series confirm each country similar analysis, but Malaysia have largest effect on Malaysia. Meanwhile, contributed positively for Indonesia. 1998 2008 economic crises were also found impact not significantly some countries.
