Giant cavernous haemangioma of the spleen presenting as massive splenomegaly and treated by partial splenectomy.
Cavernous haemangioma is a rare disorder of the spleen with fewer than 100 cases reported. Only rarely do they attain large sizes. A 36-year-old woman presented with a six-month history of pain in the left hypochondrium and a massive splenomegaly. Ultrasonography, Doppler studies, and computed tomography could not distinguish between a haemangioma and a secondary deposit. Magnetic resonance ima...

Cavernous haemangiomas are benign vascular lesions of the central nervous system. Their size varies from a few millimetres to several centimetres. Giant and paediatric cases are rare. This report presents a 10-month-old baby with a giant multilobular cavernous haemangioma in the left parietal lobe who presented with seizures.

MRI is the most important imaging study for confirmation of the diagnosis (figure 2). In the absence of overt haemaorrhage, most CHs appear as a hyperintense lesion with a faint hypointense rim in T1 and lobulated heterogenous signals with a hypointense rim in T2. The most diagnostic image appears in the gradient-echo MRI which produces a blooming artifact from the magnetic susceptibility effec...
متن کاملCavernous haemangioma of the lung.
Leeds Cavernous haemangiomata of the lung are rare, and a survey of the French, American, and English literature on the subject has revealed only five cases. In 1936 Bowers reported the case of a baby boy who, two days after birth, became extremely dyspnoeic and died within a few minutes. At autopsy there were many branching raised areas on the surface of both lungs. These were filled with bloo...
متن کاملCavernous haemangioma of the oviduct.
Haemangiomas represent benign tumours of vascular origin. Cavernous haemangiomas are formed by cavernally widened irregular vascular spaces, lined with endothelia with no signs of atypia. In the fallopian tube haemangiomas are rare. In the available literature, only six cases were noted. We present a clinical and morphological case of a 69-year-old woman with cavernous haemangioma of the oviduct.
