Geothermal Plus Sunlight-Based Incubator for Sustainable Pig Production

چکیده
This experiment was conducted to assess the effects of a geothermal plus sunlight-based incubator on growth performance, electricity uses and housing environment piglets. A total 20 piglets, average 7.7 ± 0.015 kg (mean std.) initial body weight, were randomly divided into two separated incubators: control (conventional incubator) heat pump (GS) with 10 replicated The experimental duration 8 weeks. Average daily weight gain, feed intake, consumption, house temperature, humidity, ammonia, carbon dioxide concentration measured weekly basis. There no significant differences in final gain (ADG), intake (ADFI) conversion ratio (FCR) between incubators. consumption GS reduced by 120.95 kWh/head saving efficacy about 64.76% that conventional incubator. cost 3.26 USD weigh lower GS-based No noted for internal temperature humidity ammonia significantly (p < 0.05) than might be healthy economic sustainable pig production.

Veterinary epidemiology--a key to sustainable pig production in Switzerland.
Sustainable animal production requires a healthy production system including healthy animals producing wholesome products. Epidemiology as a discipline is concerned with the occurrence of disease or disease indicators in populations as well as with factors influencing disease occurrence. By providing this information, epidemiology contributes significantly to the development and maintenance of ...

Geothermal resources have the potential of contributing significantly to sustainable development in many parts of the world. Sustainable management of a geothermal resource involves utilization at a rate, which may be maintained for a very long time (100300 years). The energy production potential of geothermal systems is primarily determined by the pressure decline caused by production. Overexp...
متن کاملForage plants as an alternative feed resource for sustainable pig production in the tropics: a review.
Globally, pressure on concentrate feed resources is increasing, especially in the tropics where many countries are net importers of food. Forage plants are a possible alternative, but their use as feed ingredients for pigs raises several issues related to their higher fibre and plant secondary metabolites contents as well as their lower nutritive value. In this paper, the nutritive value of sev...
متن کاملGMOs: A Good but Battered Means for Sustainable Production Intensification
FAO promotes Sustainable Production Intensification (SPI), which consists of a technology menu for optimizing crop production per unit area, taking into consideration the range of sustainability aspects including potential and/or real social, political, economic and environmental impacts. The author suggests that Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) cropping is not only well aligned to SPI but a...

This study brings together insights from the research literatures on organisational capabilities and learning by doing to examine the response of Irish manufacturers to tightened environmental regulation in the 1990s. Using a fine-grained data set on firms’ technology and management practices, we test whether those practices over time resulted in the creation of learned ‘static’ capabilities, t...
