GeoRep—Resilient Storage for Wide Area Networks

چکیده

Embedded systems typically have limited processing and storage capabilities, may only intermittently be powered on. After sending an event upstreams with data from its sensors, the system must therefore able to trust that data, once acknowledged, is not lost. The purpose of this work propose a novel solution for replicating between nodes in such systems, minimal effect on software architecture. Based assumption there would no relative order replicated tuples, we designed new replication protocol which uses 2 communication steps per tuple, instead 3 12 used by other solutions. We verified failover mechanism proof-of-concept implementation using simulated network failures, evaluated throughput latency several controlled experiments up 7 5 geographically separated areas, 1000 producers node. recorded increased linearly both number producers. For comparison, Paxos showed similar performance as our protocol, but it got slower when were added. lack order, combination partial replication, enables continue working during partitions, part containing majority nodes, also any sufficiently large minority partitions.

Key Resynchronizing in Low Power Wide Area Networks

LPWANs are a class of technologies that have very low power consumption and high range of communication. Along with its various advantages, these technologies also have many limitations, such as low bandwidth, connectionless transmission and low processing power, which has challenged encryption methods in this technologies. One of the most important of these challenges is encryption. The very s...

Compute and Storage Clouds Using Wide Area High Performance Networks

We describe a cloud based infrastructure that we have developed that is optimized for wide area, high performance networks and designed to support data mining applications. The infrastructure consists of a storage cloud called Sector and a compute cloud called Sphere. We describe two applications that we have built using the cloud and some experimental studies.

Scalable Sharing of Wide Area Storage Resources

Over the past two years a combination of circumstances has fueled intense efforts to rethink the integration of IP networking and mass storage. Chief among these facts are the universal acceptance of Internet technologies for network infrastructure, the relentless acceleration of the Ethernet substrate, and the ongoing, exponential rise in the amount of data that must be moved and managed. Take...
