Geophysics And Geomorphic Observation For Near-Surface Structures Mapping Of Seulimeum Fault On Lamtamot Area, Northern Sumatra

چکیده
In the northern part of Sumatra Island, Indonesia, Great Sumatran Fault, which can cause an earthquake, was divided into two segments: Aceh and Seulimeum. An effort to reduce risk is mapping fault area, especially in region that does not clearly show sign on surface, e.g., Lamtamot Indonesia. Electrical resistivity widely used study shallow structures, but method requires more time when applied a large area. This research explores potential extremely low frequency (very frequency-electromagnetic; VLF-EM) investigate Seulimeum segment. Here, VLF-EM compared with other geophysical methods such as magnetic methods. For comprehensive results, geomorphic observation conducted covered outcrops trenching sites for validating model. A similar pattern electrical data has been shown two-dimensional profile using processing. The structure be mapped at distance 20–24 m from measurement, demonstrated by current density associated conductive zone VLF-EM, resistive anomaly resistivity. also confirmed via intensity, significantly increases same (20–25 m) shows activity, scarp, fractures, faults, direction segment, while scrap extends northwest up ~20 around surveys. As revealed combined surveys technique image 20–32 along profile.

Near-fault ground motions have caused very much damage in the vicinity of seismic sources during recent earthquakes. It is well known that under specific circumstances, intensive ground shakings near fault ruptures may be characterized by short-duration impulsive motions. This pulse-type motion is generally particular to the forward direction, where the fault rupture propagates towards the site...

an attempt has been made to explore the general trends in the seismic response of planasymmetric structures when subjected to near-fault and far-fault ground motions. systems with structural wall elements in both orthogonal directions considering actual and common nonlinear behavior under bi-directional excitation were studied. idealized single-storey models with uni-axial eccentricity were emp...
