Geophysical prospecting for epithermal gold deposits (a case study from the Maletoivayam gold ore field, Kamchatka Peninsula)

Research subject. The high-sulfidation (HS-type) epithermal gold deposits of the Maletoyvayam ore field, which is located in volcanic belts Kamchatka Peninsula. Materials and methods. paper presents results geophysical petrophysical studies carried out by “NPP VIRG-Rudgeofizika” (2016–2017 years) central part field hosting HS-type deposits. Results. presented case study shows potential prospecting for within altered rock areas. On basis conducted magnetic surveys, fragments a ring structure broken faults hydrothermally bodies Neogene volcanogenic-sedimentary sequence andesite composition were identified. Using 3D inversion data, shape, size estimated. electrical survey data allowed areas to be differentiated terms composition. As result, zoning was conducted, ore-bearing sites gold-bearing monoquartzites plan cross-section determined. Conclusions. Geophysical techniques are effective distinguishing important gold-related features zone thereby facilitating identification specific drill targets.
