چکیده
Long-term draining of peatlands results in transformation vegetation and obliteration their morphological features. In many areas, efforts are made to restore the original ecosystems increase water retention potential. Using combined analyses a LiDAR-based digital terrain model (DTM), colour-infrared (CIR) imagery data, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) we tested applicability these methods outlining extent subsurface structure drained mires located Stolowe Mountains National Park area, Poland. The LiDAR-DTMs enabled parameterisation physiographic features determination extent, runoff directions potential waterlogging areas. CIR analysis classification types. GPR prospecting revealed bedrock morphology, thickness internal peat deposits, showing that this technique can also provide on variability decomposition phytogenic deposits. obtained ERT sections indicate both deposits structure. show integrated with different be an effective tool peatlands, application planning peatland ecosystem restitution.

Inorganic and Organic Phosphorus Fractions in Peat from Drained Mires in Northern Finland
Soil samples from 15 eutrophic, 26 herb-rich, 15 tall-sedge, and 11 low-sedge drained peatland sites were analysed for easily soluble and aluminum, iron, and calcium bound phosphorus (P) using the Chang and Jackson sequential fractionation method. Compared to earlier investigations, where only total and easily soluble P contents (e.g. NH4OAc or dilute H2SO4 extractable P) in peat have been anal...
متن کاملReading the bed morphology of a mountain stream: a geomorphometric study on high-resolution topographic data
High-resolution topographic data expand the potential of quantitative analysis of the earth surface, improving the interpretation of geomorphic processes. In particular, the morphologies of the channel beds of mountain streams, which are characterised by strong spatial variability, can be analysed much more effectively with this type of data. In this study, we analysed the aerial LiDAR topograp...
متن کاملGeophysical inversion using petrophysical constraints
Petrophysical information is sometimes available from well logs, laboratory measurements, etc. It has been shown that incorporation of such information into geophysical inversions can greatly improve the recovered models. However, when the known petrophysical information is not applicable throughout the entire region, the application of petrophysical constraints to geophysical inversions could ...
متن کاملGeophysical and geochemical constraints on geoneutrino fluxes from Earth's mantle
Knowledge of the amount and distribution of radiogenic heating in the mantle is crucial for understanding the dynamics of the Earth, including its thermal evolution, the style and planform of mantle convection, and the energetics of the core. Although the flux of heat from the surface of the planet is robustly estimated, the contributions of radiogenic heating and secular cooling remain poorly ...
متن کاملConstraints on a shallow offshore gas environment determined by a multidisciplinary geophysical approach: The Malin Sea, NW Ireland
During the Irish National Seabed Survey (INSS) in 2003, a gas related pockmark field was discovered and extensively mapped in the Malin Shelf region (NW Ireland). In summer 2006, additional complementary data involving core sample analysis, multibeam and single-beam backscatter classification, and a marine controlled-source electromagnetic survey were obtained in specific locations. This multidi...
