Geometric optimisation of wave energy conversion devices: A survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
Unlike more established renewable energy conversion technologies, such as wind turbines, wave power systems have reached neither commercial maturity, nor technological convergence. The significant variation in device geometries and operating principles has resulted a diversification of effort, with little coordination or true comparative analysis. situation is compounded by the relative lack systematic optimisation applied to sector, partly explained complexity uncertainty associated system models, well difficulties evaluation appropriate target function metrics. This review provides critical overview state-of-the-art geometry optimisation, comparing contrasting various approaches, attempting detail current limitations preventing further progress, convergence, development optimal technology.

Wave Energy Resource Analysis for Use in Wave Energy Conversion
In order to correctly predict and evaluate the response of wave energy converters (WECs), an accurate representation of wave climate resource is crucial. This paper gives an overview of wave resource modeling techniques and applies a methodology to estimate the naturally available and technically recoverable resource in a given deployment site. The methodology was initially developed by the Ele...
متن کاملOptimisation of wave energy extraction with the Archimedes Wave Swing
This paper addresses the Archimedes Wave Swing (an offshore wave energy converter, which produces electricity from sea waves). It compares the performances of latching control (a discrete, highly non-linear, intrinsically sub-optimum control strategy), of reactive control, of phase and amplitude control (two optimum control strategies that involve non-causal transfer functions, which have to be...
متن کاملStretchable energy storage and conversion devices.
Stretchable electronics are a type of mechanically robust electronics which can be bended, folded, crumpled and stretched and represent the emerging direction towards next-generation wearable and implantable devices. Unlike existing electronics based on rigid Si technologies, stretchable devices can conform to the complex non-coplanar surfaces and provide unique functionalities which are unreac...
متن کاملUnderwater Noise Modelling of Wave Energy Devices
Future large-scale implementation of wave energy converts (WECs) will introduce an anthropogenic activity in the ocean which may contribute to underwater noise. The Ocean houses several marine species with acoustic sensibility; consequently the potential impact of the underwater noise needs to be addressed. At present, there are no acoustic impact studies based on acquired data. The WEAM projec...
