Geographies of run-commuting in the UK

Drawing on the first academic research into run-commuting, this paper places running more firmly agenda within transport studies. Run-commuting is a rapidly growing mobile practice in which people run between work and home. Academically, very little known about practice, with scant conducted it. This begins to rectify by critically exploring geographies of run-commuting UK politics mobility that emerge from this. Based survey 287 run-commuters, explores broader trends patterns locations, demographics movements run-commuters study. reveals highly socially-fractured various privileges enable constraints limit possibilities. racialised, gendered classed it being most popular urban-dwelling middle-aged white men paid professional jobs, social differentiations punctuate much practice. also shows uniqueness as Arguably concerned than commuting, entwined affected other practices everyday life, notably rhythms work, home exercise. expands scope active travel demonstrates value conversations transport, sport studies understanding such modes.
