Geographic Location System for Identifying Urban Road Sections Sensitive to Runoff Accumulation

This paper concerns the design of a geographic location system to identify urban road sections susceptible runoff accumulation through analysis efficiency surface drainage networks. To this end, combination Geographic Information Systems (GISs) and stormwater models was proposed. First, GIS hydrology tools were employed generate all information required characterise catchments geometrically. Then, synthetic storm created from precipitation data obtained spatial interpolation for given return period. Finally, three main hydrological processes occurring in (precipitation loss, transformation routing) simulated using Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC-HMS). The tested case study an catchment located city Santander (Spain). results demonstrate its usefulness detecting critical points terms accumulation, according existing network.
