Geochemical Characterization of Mineralized Pegmatites around Wowyen Areas, Akwanga, Northcentral Nigeria

This study aims to account for the petrogenesis and mineralization of pegmatites around Wowyen area, northcentral basement complex,Nigeria. Field studies, petrography whole rock geochemistry (Major oxides were estimated by X-Ray Fluorescence while trace elements Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) where methods adopted. The area are emplaced in remobilized belt Nigerian Basement complex. They predominantly complex (rare-metal pegmatites) which intruded biotite-muscovite gneiss simple more migmatitic banded gneiss. major components quartz, albite muscovite tourmaline.The accessory constituents garnet; ilmenites; cassiterite-columbitetantalite contrast microcline biotite pegmatites. show higher peraluminous than pegmatites, however, fractionation is observed rather enriched rare such as Li, Rb, B, Cs, Sn, Nb, Be Ta low ratios Al/Ga K/Rb likely product sedimentary origin originated from post-collisional tectonic event.
