Genres in the Public Domain: Genre Uptakes, Responses, and Responsibility

This article analyzes a rhetorical genre ecology emerging in the aftermath of natural disaster Ghana. Drawing on news articles and opinion pieces, presidential speech, government post-disaster assessment summary, World Bank Group action report, I argue that their operation within contingent environment public spheres, uptakes may be highly unpredictable, but also serve multiple, varied functions together respond to multiplicity exigences presented by diffused contexts publics. The analysis explains how interaction shape social action, these interactions, turn, enact
