چکیده

Staphylococcus chromogenes and simulans are commonly found in intramammary infections (IMI) associated with bovine subclinical mastitis, but little is known about genotypic variation relatedness within species. This includes knowledge genes encoding antimicrobial resistance (AMR) potential virulence factors (pVF). The aim of this study was therefore to investigate these aspects by whole-genome sequencing milk isolates from Swedish dairy cows mastitis an observational study. We also wanted if specific genotypes were persistent IMI the inflammatory response at udder quarter level. In total, 105 118 S. simulans, respectively, included. Isolates characterized using a 7-locus multilocus sequence typing (7-MLST), core genome analysis in-silico AMR pVF genes. Forty-seven types (ST) 7 clusters identified, most common ST ST-6 ST-109, both belonging cluster VII. A MLST scheme for not available, 3 5 subclusters described. Overall, substantial among herds Some several herds, indicating spread between herds. Moreover, within-herd same genotype observed Only few (blaZ, strpS194, vga(A)) detected limited number isolates, exception blaZ coding β-lactamase, which identified 22% ST-19, ST-102, ST-103 more carrying gene compared other STs. However, simulans. average total per isolate similar (n = 30) 33), some numbers presence or functional groups pVF, shown ST/clusters Differences potentially level subtypes subtypes. conclusion, results present generates new insight into epidemiology IMI, can have implications future prevention treatment related

Genotypic and phenotypic characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolated from milk of bovine mastitis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) among a (S. aureus) collection (n = 430) isolated from milk of cows suffering from mastitis in Belgium and to compare their genotypic as well as phenotypic characteristics. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and PCR-based typing techniques (MLST, spa, SCCmec, and agr typing) have been a...

Characterisation of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from cases of bovine subclinical mastitis in two Uruguayan dairy farms

The aim of this work was to identify and to characterise Staphylococcus aureus isolates associated with subclinical mastitis obtained from milk of lactating cows showing a California Mastitis Test (CMT) score result of traces, 1, 2 or 3. Coagulase, hemolysis, presence of capsule, slime formation, biofilm production, autoaggregation, hemagglutination and antibiotic susceptibility were assessed t...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus from bovine mastitis

AIM This study was conducted to determine the occurrence of methicillin-sensitive and Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) from bovine mastitis and to characterize them with respect to antibiotic resistance gene mecA. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 160 mastitic milk samples were screened for the presence of S. aureus. The presumptive positive isolates were con...

Antibiotic Susceptibility and Plasmid Profiles of Staphylococcus aureus Strains Isolated from Bovine Subclinical Mastitis in Tabriz, Iran

ABSTRACT        Background and Objectives: Mastitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus is a widely distributed disease in cattle, goats and sheep. The infection is often subclinical in cattle, leading to reduced milk production and quality, but acute catarrhal or even gangrenous inflammation may also occur. The aim of this study was to investigate resistance of S. au...

PCR-based detection of genes encoding virulence determinants in Staphylococcus aureus from bovine subclinical mastitis cases

The present study was carried out to genotypically characterize Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) isolated from bovine mastitis cases. A total of 37 strains of S. aureus were isolated during processing of 552 milk samples from 140 cows. The S. aureus strains were characterized phenotypically, and were further characterized genotypically by polymerase chain reaction using oligonucleotide primers...
