چکیده
Genomic selection has been widely implemented in many livestock breeding programs, but it remains incipient buffalo. Therefore, this study aimed to (1) estimate variance components incorporating genomic information Murrah buffalo; (2) evaluate the performance of prediction for milk-related traits using single- and multitrait random regression models (RRM) single-step best linear unbiased approach; (3) longitudinal SNP effects candidate genes potentially associated with time-dependent variation milk, fat, protein yields, as well somatic cell score (SCS) multiple parities. The data used genetic parameters consisted a total 323,140 test-day records. average daily heritability estimates were moderate (0.35 ± 0.02 milk yield, 0.22 0.03 fat 0.42 0.16 SCS). highest estimates, considering all studied, observed between 20 280 d (DIM). correlation at different DIM among evaluated ranged from ?0.10 (156 185 SCS) 0.61 (36 65 yield). In general, direct any is expected result indirect gains yield also increase SCS certain lactation stages, which undesirable. predicted RRM coefficients derive estimated values (GEBV) each time point (from 5 305 DIM). tuning when constructing hybrid relationship matrices had small effect on GEBV accuracy greater bias estimates. solutions back-solved Legendre coefficients, then 3 stages performed trait parity: 70, 71 150, 151 DIM. Important regions related analyzed parities that explain more than 0.50% additive selected further analyses genes. similar potential found traits, our results suggest evidence differential sets underlying phenotypic expression across These contribute better understanding architecture production dairy buffalo reinforce relevance genetically Furthermore, identified can be target future functional genomics studies.

Prediction of Complex Human Traits Using the Genomic Best Linear Unbiased Predictor
Despite important advances from Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS), for most complex human traits and diseases, a sizable proportion of genetic variance remains unexplained and prediction accuracy (PA) is usually low. Evidence suggests that PA can be improved using Whole-Genome Regression (WGR) models where phenotypes are regressed on hundreds of thousands of variants simultaneously. The Ge...
متن کاملGenetic evaluation using single-step genomic best linear unbiased predictor in American Angus.
Predictive ability of genomic EBV when using single-step genomic BLUP (ssGBLUP) in Angus cattle was investigated. Over 6 million records were available on birth weight (BiW) and weaning weight (WW), almost 3.4 million on postweaning gain (PWG), and over 1.3 million on calving ease (CE). Genomic information was available on, at most, 51,883 animals, which included high and low EBV accuracy anima...

متن کاملBiochemical characterization of buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) milk lysozyme.
Lysozyme, a low-molecular weight basic protein, is an important component of the antibacterial system in milk. Lysozyme activity is higher in buffalo milk (60±3.9r 10 units/ml) than in bovine milk (29.1±1.5r10 units/ ml). Buffalo colostrum contains five-times more lysozyme activity than mature milk (Priyadarshini & Kansal, 2002a). Lysozyme activity in buffalo milk is not influenced by the parit...
متن کاملQuantitative studies on spermatogenesis in buffalo (Bubalus bubalis).
The qualitative behaviour of spermatogenetic cells and Sertoli cells in the buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) was studied by identifying 8 stages of the seminiferous epithelium cycle based on meiotic division and morphology as well as the position of more mature spermatids. To achieve better results, stages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 were sub-divided. Six peaks of spermatogonial mitosis suggested six generations...
