Genomic prediction of threshability in naked barley

چکیده
Abstract Threshability, defined here as the propensity of grains to lose their hull after harvest, is a key trait in naked barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.). While threshability defining characteristic and has been found be associated with grain size shape, its genetic architecture poorly described. The goals this study were identify quantitative loci evaluate utility covariates genomic prediction models. A genome‐wide association identified two on chromosomes 2H 3H threshability. locus chromosome accounted for 9.9% phenotypic variance explained (PVE). 7.8% PVE. With effects 0.18 0.29 each marker, respectively, these markers could have limited impact when implemented marker‐assisted selection. Predictive ability was 0.842 using structured best linear unbiased model. Incorporation significant associations model did not improve predictive ability. improved by use multi‐trait including test weight. high overall indicate that selection would useful barley.

Genomic Prediction of Barley Hybrid Performance.
Hybrid breeding in barley ( L.) offers great opportunities to accelerate the rate of genetic improvement and to boost yield stability. A crucial requirement consists of the efficient selection of superior hybrid combinations. We used comprehensive phenotypic and genomic data from a commercial breeding program with the goal of examining the potential to predict the hybrid performances. The pheno...
متن کاملGenomic Prediction of Manganese Efficiency in Winter Barley.
Manganese efficiency is a quantitative abiotic stress trait controlled by several genes each with a small effect. Manganese deficiency leads to yield reduction in winter barley ( L.). Breeding new cultivars for this trait remains difficult because of the lack of visual symptoms and the polygenic features of the trait. Hence, Mn efficiency is a potential suitable trait for a genomic selection (G...

متن کاملAdding Genetically Distant Individuals to Training Populations Reduces Genomic Prediction Accuracy in Barley
one of the most important factors affecting genomic prediction accuracy appears to be training population (Tp) composition. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of genomic relationship on genomic prediction accuracy and determine if adding increasingly unrelated individuals to a Tp can reduce prediction accuracy. To accomplish this, a population of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) ...
