Genome Enhanced Marker Improvement for Potato Virus Y Disease Resistance in Potato

چکیده
Potato is an important food crop worldwide and grown in a large number of countries. As such, the under disease pressures need for selecting resistance genes during breeding programs essential. Of particular importance within Australia other parts world potyvirus, virus Y (PVY). In this paper, three commonly used PVY markers, M45, RYSC3 M6, were evaluated using existing genomic resources phenotypic data from Australian potato program to identify region where gene, Ryadg may reside. A Chromosome XI was investigated, cluster identified that gene suspected reside within. Protein characterization also performed on putative resistant gene. specific variant had complete association with single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) assay designed avoid dissociation marker future programs. This SNP (SNP37279) validated as Kompetitive Allele-specific PCR (KASP) genotyping found perform more accurately than all previously markers detecting Ryadg.

Vegetative propagation of potato allows the dissemination of viruses that can cause drastic drops in tuber yield. Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most important viruses of potato due to the non-persistent mode of transmission through vector insects. Genetic resistance is the recommended control measure since the chemical control of vector insects is not effective. This study aimed to identif...

Potato viruses cause enormous economic loss in agriculture production. Potatoes can be infected by a number of different viruses that affect negatively the harvest and the tuber quality. Direct and effective drugs against plant virus diseases are still not available and control is only applied as agricultural measures and pesticides against virus vectors. Potato virus Y (PVY) is transmitted by ...

RESUMEN Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most severe viruses affecting the production of potato (Solanum tuberosum) in the world. This study presents a detailed molecular analysis using nextgeneration sequencing (NGS), IC-RT-qPCR and RT-PCR on the PVY isolates infecting seed-tubers and foliage of potato plants cv. Diacol-Capiro in La Union (Antioquia, Colombia). Analysis of incidence by IC-RT...
متن کاملPathogen derived resistance to Potato virus Y: mechanisms and risks
Since the concept of pathogen derived resistance (PDR) was proposed in 1985, genetic transformation of plants to express virus-derived sequences has been used to engineer resistance to many viruses. This paper reviews PDR approaches to Potato virus Y (PVY, type member of the genus Potyvirus). PDR to viruses operates often through RNA-mediated resistance mechanisms that do not require protein ex...

Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most damaging viruses of potato plants which infecting most cultivars and causing significant yield and economical losses. The application of the concept of pathogen derived resistance opened new horizons for the development of virus-resistant plants. This research was carried out to study RNA silencing to engineered potato plants that are resistant to potato ...
