چکیده
Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation (IVF) accounts for up to 44% sudden cardiac deaths (SCD); the diagnostic yield genetic testing in probands is reported as low 3%. Purpose The aim this study describe results IVF from a high-volume center. Methods All consecutive patients with and were retrospectively analyzed. was diagnosed, following HRS/EHRA guidelines, by means excluding other causes through clinical, imaging data. Genetic analysis performed all SeqCap v3 Brugada syndrome next generation sequencing HiSeq1500 inherited primary arrhythmia syndromes. variants classified ACMG pathogenic (P)/likely (LP) or unknown significance (VUS). Results Fourteen included (Table); an ICD implanted patients. A variant found 9 (64.3%), 5 P/LP (35.7%) 4 (28.6%) VUS variant. Genes mutated included: RYR2 3 TTN 2 MYPN one patient, SCN4A DES patient CACNA1C patient. At mean follow-up 76 months experienced shock [2 (40%) vs (33%) VUS/no variants, p=NS). Conclusion can be useful IVF; prognosis modest high rate at long-term follow up.

Idiopathic Ventricular Fibrillation
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and sudden cardiac death (SCD) are disastrous outcomes of various predominant cardiac diseases. The leading cause of SCA and SCD is coronary artery disease. However, SCA/SCD in young patients is mainly caused by congenital disorders of primary arrhythmic or structural origin. SCD is defined as death from an unexpected circulatory arrest, usually because of a cardiac ...
متن کامل[Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation].
Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation is defined as cardiac arrest in the absence of structural heart disease and other identifiable causes of ventricular fibrillation. It occurs in 1% to 9% of survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The mean age of these patients is 35 to 40 years, and 70% to 75% are male. The pathogenesis is unknown; psychosocial factors may play a role. Baseline clinical ...
متن کاملMapping and ablation of idiopathic ventricular fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Ventricular fibrillation is the main mechanism of sudden cardiac death. The feasibility of eliminating recurrent episodes by catheter ablation has not been reported. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty-seven patients without known heart disease (13 men, 14 women, 41+/-14 years of age) were studied after being resuscitated from recurrent (10+/-12) episodes of primary idiopathic ventricular f...

A 26-year-old woman, with no relevant personal or family history, experienced 3 resting syncopal episodes with tonic convulsions in a period of 2 months. The physical examination, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, programmed stimulation, and a provocation test with flecainide were normal or negative. A subcutaneous Holter was implanted (Reveal® Plus Medtronic, Inc.) which was consulted a fortn...
متن کاملEpidemiology and genetics of ventricular fibrillation during acute myocardial infarction
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) from ventricular fibrillation (VF) during coronary artery disease (CAD) is a leading cause of total and cardiovascular mortality, and in more than half of SCD cases VF occurs as the first symptom of CAD. Several epidemiological studies have shown that sudden death of a family member is a risk factor for SCD and VF during acute myocardial infarction (MI), independent o...
