Genetic Variation, Heritability and Genetic Advance Among Semi-Dwarf Tef [Eragrostis tef (Zucc.) Trotter] Recombinant Inbred Lines

A total of forty-nine recombinant inbred lines were evaluated for 16 traits using simple lattice design. All the measured over locations showed highly significant differences among except fertile tiller per plant, while x location interaction effect was most measured. Grain yield highest phenotypic coefficients variation (PCV) (26.36%) followed by above ground biomass (23.16%), remaining low (<10%) to moderate (10-20%). Moderate (10-20%) genotypic coefficient recorded biomass. Plant height and panicle length high heritability(H 2 ) (>60%), whereas half remained (<30%) (30% 60%) heritability. Genetic advance as percent mean (GAM) (>17.02%) least number branches (0.09%). From all in this study, plant height, H aboveground performs relatively values GCV, PCV GAM. Therefore, these are important selection further improvements. This study revealed that four had higher than local standard checks. Recombinant Inbred Line (RIL)# 14 grain lodging index, longer panicle, spikelets well lines, which could be base future tef breeding program.
