چکیده

The present investigation was carried out to assess the genetic variability parameters, correlation and path analysis in twenty-one maize genotypes for sixteen quantitative traits Kharif seasons at Field Experimentation Centre, Department of Genetics Plant Breeding, Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University Agriculture Technology Sciences, Uttar Pradesh Randomized Block Design replicated thrice. Analysis variance all characters revealed that treatment differences were highly significant under study 1% level season. objective oriented calculate estimate yield through analyzing mean performance, variability, expected advance, coefficient involving attributing characters. Among 21 genotypes, BML-13 (109.67), MGW-376 (108.93) found be superior grain per plant over check (Shaktiman-5). GCV less than PCV, indicating influence environmental component on expression character. High heritability coupled with high advance as percent recorded height, ear rows cob, cob weight, biological plant, 100 plant. Path Correlation length, girth, grains row, number cobs weight had positive direct effects Therefore, it is concluded effective selection must attempted these which would help improvement genotypes.

Estimation of heterosis for grain yield components in Maize (Zea mays L.)

Heterosis plays an important role in achieving improvement in crop production. About 69 F 1 hybrids obtained by crossing twenty three lines and three testers in a line × tester fashion were used to derive the information on degree of heterosis over mid, better and standard parent in maize. Sixty nine crosses and their parents including one check CoH(M)5 were evaluated in a Randomized Block Desi...

Association Mapping for Enhancing Maize (Zea mays L.) Genetic Improvement

Association mapping through linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis is a powerful tool for the dissection of complex agronomic traits and for the identifi cation of alleles that can contribute to the enhancement of a target trait. With the developments of high throughput genotyping techniques and advanced statistical approaches as well as the assembling and characterization of multiple association...

Allozyme Frequency Changes Associated with Selection for Increased Grain Yield in Maize (ZEA MAYS L.).

Frequency changes of alleles at eight enzyme loci were monitored in four long-term maize selection experiments. The results indicate that changes in frequencies of the alleles at these loci are associated with changes due to selection for improved grain yield. The frequencies changed more than is consistent with the hypothesis of selective neutrality. In addition, significant deviations from a ...

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

Genetic Analysis for Yield Potential and Quality Traits in Maize (Zea mays L.)

Abstract: Grain yield is a complex phenomenon which results from the interaction of various contributing factors highly influenced by environmental variation. Phenotypic selection cannot directly improve the characters in heterozygous crops like maize unless dissected by genetic analysis. Gene action for various quantitative and qualitative traits was explored in a complete set of diallel invol...
