GENETIC DIVERSITY AMONG BITTER MELON GENOTYPES ASSESSED THROUGH MORPHO-AGRONOMIC VARIABLES

چکیده
ABSTRACT Bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) is a plant species recommended by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) as hypoglycemiant. The characterization of plants an essential step in any breeding program. objective present work was to organize and characterize bitter germplasm collection, based on morpho-agronomic characters, assess its genetic diversity identify genotypes agronomic interest. Eighty-eight were characterized for 38 descriptors. Redundant descriptors identified through Principal Component Analysis (PCA); after their exclusions, new PCA carried out verify dispersion among genotypes. Groups defined using kmeans clustering method. groups studied phenotype pattern radar chart. Populational estimated Shannon Pielou indexes. Intra group analysis similarity (anosim). relative importance variables also estimated. Seventeen redundant. grouped into 5 groups. G1 G5 antagonist regarding fruit seed productions fruit, leaf, sizes. A trend decrease sizes found from G5. high. high small genotypes, low medium-sized variable number male flowers (NMFL) that presented greatest contribution estimation diversity. UFRRJ MSC072, 042, 028, 087 stood with highest fruits produced.

Investigation of Genetic Diversity and Relationships Among Agronomic Traits of Some Flax Genotypes
Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) from the Linum genus and Linaceae family is one of the oldest oil products in the world. A natural population with sufficient genetic diversity is necessary to select the desired phenotypic traits, so the study of genetic diversity and the correct selection of essential tools is the main breed of plant. Agriculture fac...
متن کاملGenetic diversity and relationships among traits in potato genotypes using agronomic traits and molecular marker (SSR).
The molecular marker (SSR) has been used to investigate the markers associated with the agronomic traits including days to 50% flowering, tube ring time, days to maturity, plant height, the number of main stems per plant, the number of tubers per plant, dry matter content, main stem diameter, a single tuber weight, average single tuber weight, and the total yield in potato genotypes. Ten primer...
متن کاملAssessment of genetic diversity among sunflower genotypes using microsatellite markers
Genetic diversity estimation of plant materials is one of the important pre-breeding activities in breeding field crops. Twenty-one microsatellite markers used to assess genetic diversity and relationship of 68 sunflower genotypes (Helianthus annuus L.). All of 21 pairs of SSR (Simple Sequence Repeats) markers produced a total number of 49 polymorphic bands. DNA fragments ranged from 9...
متن کاملUse of morpho-agronomic traits and DNA profiling for classification of genetic diversity in papaya.
We examined the genetic diversity of papaya (Carica papaya) based on morpho-agronomic and molecular data. Twenty-seven genotypes grown in Brazil were analyzed with 11 AFLP primer combinations, 23 ISSR markers, 22 qualitative, and 30 quantitative descriptors. For the joint analyses, we used the Gower algorithm (Joint Gower) and the average value of the individual dissimilarity matrix for each ty...
متن کاملGenetic diversity of Iranian melon cultigens revealed by AFLP markers
Iran is a part of the secondary centre of origin of melons, and therefore, there is a wealth of genetic variation of these species in this country. The Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) marker was applied to investigate the genetic variations among five major Iranian melon cultigens (Cucumis melo) and ‘Ananasi’ as a general well-known cultivar. Ten primer pairs were used on 90 indiv...
