Genetic analysis of biochemical, fiber yield and quality traits of upland cotton under high-temperature

چکیده
To understand the effect of heat stress on morphology and physiology cotton, eight cotton genotypes with their 15F1 hybrids (five lines, three testers) were grown in field conditions under randomized complete block design (RCBD) two treatments i.e. normal high-temperature stresses replications followed by split-plot arrangement. Data collected for biochemical yield-related parameters. Mean values all studied traits reduced significantly whilst mean value lint%, catalase activity, total soluble proteins, peroxidase, carotenoids increased high-temperature. Under both conditions, number bolls, boll weight, seed yield, lint index, mass per boll, hydrogen peroxide content, carotenoids, chlorophyll contents had high heritability along genetic advance percent which revealed, these controlled additive gene action. The short fiber strength, fineness, upper half length peroxidase activity moderate showed, non-additive temperature FH-458, IUB-65, CRS-2, FH-313 good general combiners physicochemical traits. cross combination IUB-013× CRS-2 FH-458× specific combiner plant height yield quality traits, best VH-329× CRS-2. These identified parents combinations might be used improving already present commercial varieties stress.

QTL Mapping for Fiber and Yield Traits in Upland Cotton under Multiple Environments
A population of 178 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) was developed using a single seed descendant from a cross between G. hirsutum. acc DH962 and G. hirsutum. cv Jimian5, was used to construct a genetic map and to map QTL for fiber and yield traits. A total of 644 polymorphic loci were used to construct a final genetic map, containing 616 loci and spanning 2016.44 cM, with an average of 3.27 cM ...

Five upland cotton cultivars were crossed in a complete diallel crossing system to investigate inheritance pattern and combining ability of parents for different fiber quality traits like staple length, fiber strength, fineness and uniformity. The study was carried out in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during the years 2005-07. Highly signif...
متن کاملTwo genomic regions associated with fiber quality traits in Chinese upland cotton under apparent breeding selection
Fiber quality is one of the most important agronomic traits of cotton, and understanding the genetic basis of its target traits will accelerate improvements to cotton fiber quality. In this study, a panel comprising 355 upland cotton accessions was used to perform genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of five fiber quality traits in four environments. A total of 16, 10 and 7 SNPs were associa...

Cotton germplasm was analyzed to investigate its potential for developing water stress tolerance in varieties in the future. Four tolerant (NIAB-78, CIM-482, BH-121, and VH-142) and four susceptible (CIM-446, FH-1000, FH-900, and FH-901) lines were identified of 50 accessions based on their seedling root length. A complete set of diallel crosses among eight selected genotypes was subjected to g...
