Equilibrium spin current in graphene with Rashba spin-orbit coupling
The existence of a background spin current under thermodynamic equilibrium is an interesting phenomenon in the two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling (RSOC). Here we study the equilibrium spin current (ESC) in graphene with RSOC. For an infinite graphene with uniform RSOC, we found that the ESC is proportional to λ(2) with λ the Rashba strength and mainly comes from the en...
متن کاملGeneration of spin current by Coulomb drag.
Coulomb drag between two quantum wires is exponentially sensitive to the mismatch of their electronic densities. The application of a magnetic field can compensate this mismatch for electrons of opposite spin directions in different wires. The resulting enhanced momentum transfer leads to the conversion of the charge current in the active wire to the spin current in the passive wire.
متن کاملCharge current driven by spin dynamics in disordered Rashba spin-orbit system.
Pumping of charge current by spin dynamics in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit interaction is theoretically studied. Considering a disordered electron, the exchange coupling and spin-orbit interactions are treated perturbatively. It is found that the dominant current induced by spin dynamics is interpreted as a consequence of the conversion from spin current via the inverse spin Hall effec...
متن کاملMechanical generation of spin current
Spin current, a flow of spins, is a key concept in the field of spintronics. It is generated by using angular momentum conversion among magnetic angular momentum due to magnetization dynamics, photon angular momentum, angular momentum due to orbital motion of electron, and spin angular momentum [1–3]. Meanwhile, mechanical angular momentum carried by condensed matter systems due to macroscopic ...
متن کاملMagnetic vortex-antivortex crystals generated by spin-polarized current
We study vortex pattern formation in thin ferromagnetic films under the action of strong spin-polarized currents. Considering the currents which are polarized along the normal of the film plane, we determine the critical current above which the film goes to a saturated state with all magnetic moments being perpendicular to the film plane. We show that stable square vortex-antivortex superlattic...
