Genealogy and genetic base of Brazilian cotton cultivars

چکیده

Cotton is an essential worldwide commodity, and Brazil ranks fourth in world production second export. The present work aimed to gather the genealogies estimate genetic base of 109 Brazilian cotton cultivars released from 1932 2021. Twelve 68 ancestors identified contributed with 52.03% genes, 33% resulted direct selection landraces or old cultivars, evidencing a narrow base. Over time, especially after 1990, increases number added breeding programs were driven by need reduce cultivars' cycle for coexistence pests make them suitable mechanized cultivation new agricultural frontiers. However, still have base, important participation CNPA SRI3, CKR 100W, C-77 Express.

The genetic base of Brazilian soybean cultivars: evolution over time and breeding implications

Genetic diversity is essential for crop breeding and one way to estimate it is through the concept of genetic base, which can be defined as the number of ancestors and their relative genetic contributions (RGC) to each cultivar. The RGC can be estimated through the coefficient of parentage between the ancestors and cultivars. Previous studies determined that the genetic base of Brazilian soybea...

Genetic variability in Brazilian wheat cultivars assessed by microsatellite markers

Wheat (Triticum aestivum) is one of the most important food staples in the south of Brazil. Understanding genetic variability among the assortment of Brazilian wheat is important for breeding. The aim of this work was to molecularly characterize the thirty-six wheat cultivars recommended for various regions of Brazil, and to assess mutual genetic distances, through the use of microsatellite mar...

Building the Brazilian Academic Genealogy Tree

Along the history, many researchers provided remarkable contributions to science, not only advancing knowledge but also in terms of mentoring new scientists. Currently, identifying and studying the formation of researchers over the years is a challenging task as current repositories of theses and dissertations are cataloged in a decentralized way through many local digital libraries. Following ...
