چکیده

Abstract Background Brugada syndrome (BS) is a heritable channelopathy with male predominance. Males (M) seem to have higher risk of arrhythmic events, although, there limited data regarding gender differences in BS. Aim To compare the between genders Portuguese sample BS patients (pts). Methods Single-center retrospective study pts followed by Arrhythmology Department. Pts were divided according and compared baseline characteristics electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters that possibly predict (significative S wave DI, R sign, Tpeak-Tend interval fragmented QRS). The events during follow-up syncope probable origin, ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) sudden cardiac death (SCD). Results A total 165 included; 64 (39%) female (F) mean age at diagnosis was 47±15 years. made family screening (FS) 72 (44%) pts. Sixty-seven (41%) had spontaneous type 1 pattern, 59 (36%) history 5 (3%) aborted SCD. positive genetic test identified 41 (25%) Sixty-three (38%) referred for an electrophysiological (EEF) which 17 (27%) cardioverter-defibrillator implanted 45 Females more often diagnosed FS (64% vs 31%, p <.001), less pattern (22% 53%, p<.001) no atrial (0% 7%, p=.043). They performed EEF frequently 49%, treadmill stress (8% 33%, p=.004). Regarding ECG parameters, females shorter QRS (104±12 115±18 ms, p<0.001), frequent aVR sign (3% 27%, significative DI (31% 55%, p=0.004), tendency Tp-Te (80 100 p=0.051). Corrected QT longer (396 392ms, p=0.044). During median 28 (IQR 16–41) months, 7 VT/VF (2F, 5M) 3 (3M), (p=0.287). There cardiovascular deaths. Conclusion In BS, are pattern. Gender appears affect basal namely may risk. Further studies important clarify role prognosis stratification Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Brugada syndrome.

Brugada syndrome is a rare cardiac arrhythmia characterized by electrocardiographic right bundle branch block and persistent ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads. It is associated with ventricular fibrillation and a high risk for sudden cardiac death, predominantly in younger males with structurally normal hearts. Patients can remain asymptomatic, and electrocardiographic patterns...

Gender-Related Differences in Neonatal Imitation

Socio-emotional behaviour is in part sex-related in humans, although the contribution of the biological and socio-cultural factors is not yet known. This study explores sex-related differences during the earliest communicative exchange, the neonatal imitation in 43 newborn infants (3–96 hours old) using an index finger extension imitative gesture. Results showed that although the experimenter p...
