Gelucire®-mediated heterometallic AgAu nanohybrid engineering for femtomolar cysteine detection using smartphone-based plasmonics technology

Conventionally nanoparticles (NPs) are synthesized using reducing and capping agents that often hazardous for the environment not economically viable. Consequently, there is a growing requirement of bio-friendly methodologies nanosynthesis via green chemistry approach. The present study discusses frugal cost effective one-pot synthesis AgAu nanohybrid exploiting UV-treatment without use environmentally chemicals. Biocompatible pharmaceutical carrier Gelucire® has been utilized this purpose as both agent stabilizer. obtained nanohybrids displayed unique nano-geometries generated regions augmented electromagnetic (EM) intensity ‘hotspots’ while studied on metallic thin films in reverse Kretschmann (RK) configuration. In addition to being highly beneficial from sustainable development standpoint, showcased unprecedented surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE) enhancement >1000-fold sharply directional, p-polarized dequenched emission, account high EM field intensity. Furthermore, SPCE was attaining femtomolar sensitivity biologically significant amino acid cysteine mobile phone based plasmonics platform. Excellent correlation observed between results an expensive spectrophotometer user-friendly phone-based detector.
