Gauging non-Hermitian Hamiltonians

We address the problem of coupling non-Hermitian systems, treated as fundamental rather than effective theories, to the electromagnetic field. In such theories the observables are not the x and p appearing in the Hamiltonian, but quantities X and P constructed by means of the metric operator. Following the analogous procedure of gauging a global symmetry in Hermitian quantum mechanics we find t...

Linear Quantum Entropy and Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians

We consider the description of open quantum systems with probability sinks (or sources) in terms of general non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. Within such a framework, we study novel possible definitions of the quantum linear entropy as an indicator of the flow of information during the dynamics. Such linear entropy functionals are necessary in the case of a partially Wigner-transformed non-Hermitian ...

Fock Space Representations for Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians

The requirement of Hermiticity of a Quantum Mechanical Hamiltonian, for the description of physical processes with real eigenvalues which has been challenged notably by Carl Bender, is examined for the case of a Fock space Hamilitonian which is bilinear in two creation and destruction operators. An interpretation of this model as a Schrödinger operator leads to an identification of the Hermitia...

Critical parameters for non-hermitian Hamiltonians

We calculate accurate critical parameters for a class of non-hermitian Hamiltonians by means of the diagonalizationmethod. We study three one-dimensional models and two perturbed rigid rotors with PT symmetry. One of the latter models illustrates the necessity of a more general condition for the appearance of real eigenvalues that we also discuss here.

Resolutions of Identity for Some Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians. II. Proofs

This part is a continuation of the Part I where we built resolutions of identity for certain non-Hermitian Hamiltonians constructed of biorthogonal sets of their eigenand associated functions for the spectral problem defined on entire axis. Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians under consideration are taken with continuous spectrum and the following cases are examined: an exceptional point of arbitrary mu...
