Gauge theory geography: charting a path between semiclassical islands

We study two semiclassical limits of $SU(2)$ Yang-Mills theory on a spatial torus with 't Hooft twist: the ``femtouniverse,'' where all $\mathbb{T}^3$ directions are small, and deformed $\mathbb{T}^2 \times \mathbb{S}^1$, small $\mathbb{S}^1$ large or infinite $\mathbb{T}^2$. Carefully defining symmetries, we show that classical ground states, while different, have same transformation properties under 1-form center symmetry parity. argue this is behind identical multi-branch $\theta$-dependent vacuum structure these theories. then calculate one-loop potential for $\mathbb{S}^1$-holonomy in presence twists use it to quantum stability states gauge theories massive massless adjoint fermions twist The results point towards some interesting features worthy further study.
