Gateway to the perspectives of the Food-Energy-Water nexus

The Food-Energy–Water (FEW) nexus has been promoted as a tool for improving food, energy, and water resource security via an interdisciplinary approach that acknowledges the inherent synergies tradeoffs involved in managing these resources. Over past decade discussion of increased rapidly, along with research funding output. However, because encompasses so many different disciplines, researchers engage study from differing perspectives distinct motivations analytical methodologies. Understanding is critical to understanding value given work. This paper first uses narrative review identify toolsets five key used view nexus, including: ecosystem health, waste management, public private institutional change, stakeholder trust, learning process. Then, systematic conducted examine how publication trends have changed over decade, both generally each perspectives. Food-Energy-Water not systems-based addressing management critiques “Buzzword” or simply reinvention previous systems are growing literature.
