چکیده
Background: Alcohol abuse contributes to the pathology of gastric ulcers. The tissues contain antioxidants, but activity declines when exposed reactive oxygen species. Ammi visnaga extract has substantial scavenging effects and is rich in phenols flavonoids. We estimated gastro-protective antioxidative A. on rats’ mucosal lesions after exposure ethanol. Methods: Forty adult male albino rats were divided into four groups ten each. Group 1 (standard control), group 2 received omeprazole 20 mg/kg+1 mL ethanol, 3 (ulcer model) ethanol 80% only, 4 1200 mg/kg/day Visnaga extract+1 80%. pH, percentage ulcer area, mucus secretion, oxidative antioxidant markers, histopathology examined each group. Results: Pre-treatment with improved acidity, ulcerated areas, secretion compared 3. Compared 3, treated showed major improvements tissue glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase levels. examinations ulceration glandular mucosa accompanied by multifocal inflammatory cell infiltrations. treatment completely protected 2. Significant improvement was also observed pretreated (group 4). Conclusion: included inhibition stress increased properties.
