چکیده

Gender differences and microbiota are gaining increasing attention. This study aimed to assess gender in gastric bacterial between subjects with healthy stomachs those autoimmune atrophic gastritis. was a post hoc analysis of 52 undergoing gastroscopy for dyspepsia (57.7% stomach, 42.3% gastritis). Gastric biopsies were obtained histopathology genomic DNA extraction. assessed by sequencing the hypervariable regions 16SrRNA gene. The profile at phylum level reported as being relative abundance expressed OTUs (>0.5%) biodiversity calculated Shannon-diversity index-H. All data stratified female male gender. Results showed that women had higher less microbial diversity compared men. Likely due hypochlorhydria non-acid intragastric environment, gastritis seems reset reduce males, showing greater extent dysbiosis terms reduced Differences on taxa frequency genus observed. impact these findings gender-specific natural history remains be elucidated; any case, should deserve attention studies.

Comparison of the human gastric microbiota in hypochlorhydric states arising as a result of Helicobacter pylori-induced atrophic gastritis, autoimmune atrophic gastritis and proton pump inhibitor use

Several conditions associated with reduced gastric acid secretion confer an altered risk of developing a gastric malignancy. Helicobacter pylori-induced atrophic gastritis predisposes to gastric adenocarcinoma, autoimmune atrophic gastritis is a precursor of type I gastric neuroendocrine tumours, whereas proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use does not affect stomach cancer risk. We hypothesised that e...

Autoimmune atrophic gastritis: current perspectives

At present there is no universally accepted classification for gastritis. The first successful classification (The Sydney System) that is still commonly used by medical professionals was first introduced by Misiewicz et al in Sydney in 1990. In fact, it was the first detailed classification after the discovery of Helicobacter pylori by Warren and Marshall in 1982. In 1994, the Updated Sydney Sy...

Simple atrophic gastritis and gastric carcinoma.

Gastric carcinoma was detected nine, 10, 18, and 21 years after the biopsy diagnosis of atrophic gastritis in four patients of a group of 40. The gastritis was presumed to be of the simple type. Tests of vitamin B(12) absorption in three patients gave normal results, no gastric autoantibodies were detected in the two patients tested, in all patients histological examination of the gastrectomy s...

Type I gastric carcinoids in atrophic gastritis.

DESCRIPTION An elderly woman with vitamin B12 deficiency was evaluated for dysphagia. Upper endoscopy identified Schatzki’s ring, the likely cause of her dysphagia, and atrophic gastric mucosa with absent folds and prominent vasculature (figure 1A). In addition, there were several erythematous papules in the gastric body (figure 1B,C). Biopsies of the papules revealed trabecular infiltrates of ...
