GASA Proteins: Review of Their Functions in Plant Environmental Stress Tolerance
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gibberellic acid-stimulated Arabidopsis (GASA) gene family is a class of functional cysteine-rich proteins characterized by an N-terminal signal peptide and C-terminal-conserved GASA domain with 12 invariant cysteine (Cys) residues. are widely distributed among plant species, the majority them involved in transmission hormones, regulation development growth, responses to different environmental constraints. To date, their action mechanisms not completely elucidated. This review reports overview diversity, structure, subcellular localization proteins, involvement hormone crosstalk redox during development, abiotic biotic stresses. Knowledge this complex can be contribution promoting multiple stress tolerance potential agricultural applications through engineering genes encoding production transgenic plants.

Responses of Plant Proteins to Heavy Metal Stress—A Review
Plants respond to environmental pollutants such as heavy metal(s) by triggering the expression of genes that encode proteins involved in stress response. Toxic metal ions profoundly affect the cellular protein homeostasis by interfering with the folding process and aggregation of nascent or non-native proteins leading to decreased cell viability. However, plants possess a range of ubiquitous ce...
متن کاملAssessing Utilization and Environmental Risks of Important Genes in Plant Abiotic Stress Tolerance
Transgenic plants with improved salt and drought stress tolerance have been developed with a large number of abiotic stress-related genes. Among these, the most extensively used genes are the glycine betaine biosynthetic codA, the DREB transcription factors, and vacuolar membrane Na(+)/H(+) antiporters. The use of codA, DREBs, and Na(+)/H(+) antiporters in transgenic plants has conferred stress...
متن کاملReactive Nitrogen Species in Mitochondria and Their Implications in Plant Energy Status and Hypoxic Stress Tolerance
Hypoxic and anoxic conditions result in the energy crisis that leads to cell damage. Since mitochondria are the primary organelles for energy production, the support of these organelles in a functional state is an important task during oxygen deprivation. Plant mitochondria adapted the strategy to survive under hypoxia by keeping electron transport operative even without oxygen via the use of n...
متن کاملPlant Responses to Drought and Stress Tolerance
In the natural environment plants are well adapted to minimize damages which only occurs under extreme conditions. In the frame of “physiological window” mild drought induces in plants regulation of water loss and uptake allowing maintenance of their leaf relative water content within the limits where the photosynthetic capacity shows no or little changes. But severe drought induces in plants u...
