چکیده

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the effects gallic acid (GA) on frozen-thawed goat spermatozoa. Four Honamli bucks were used at their breeding season, and ejaculates collected by an electroejaculator. Mixed semen divided into following four groups: control (0 mM), low (L; 1 medium (M; 2 high (H; 4 mM) concentration GA. All groups frozen thawed in a water bath for spermatological evaluation. lowest motility observed group (47.60 ± 5.70%) ( P < 0.05), while highest viability (62.45 1.68%), plasma membrane acrosome integrity (44.81 4.57%), mitochondrial potential (35.96 2.50%) GA 0.05). Also, hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOS +) value found 4.82%) In conclusion, supplementing (1 Tris-based extender had positive effect parameters after freeze-thawing semen. Further studies should be continued other species with different doses combinations using commercial and/or homemade extenders.

Cervical insemination of indigenous does with frozen-thawed goat semen during the non-breeding season

Introduction We received a request from the owner of a communal flock of indigenous goats in the Northern Province to inseminate some of his does with Gorno Altai semen. The only income he derived from this flock was through the sale of live goats at Christmas. He wanted to embark on a cross-breeding programme in an attempt to create an additional source of income from the fibre that would pote...

The effect of aminoguanidine on sperm motility and mitochondrial membrane potential in varicocelized rats

Objective(s): Increased levels of nitric oxide (NO) in the testicular veins of people suffering from varicocele have already been reported. However, the role of NO-synthase (NOS) isozymes and their inhibitors have not been extensively studied. We aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effects of aminoguanidine (AG), on sperm motility, vitality, and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) in varicoceli...

The Effect of Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 on a Cellular Model of Alzheimer's Disease with Emphasis on Cell Viability and Mitochondrial Membrane Potential

Background and Objective: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder which is associated with extracellular accumulation of amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques. AD is accompanied by mitochondrial dysfunction and energy metabolism reduction. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is an endogenous polypeptide which its beneficial effects have been demonstrated on mitochondrial function, energy m...

filtration of home-made lecithin-based semen extender has no effect on post-thawed buck sperm quality

the goal of this study was the evaluation of semen extender filtration on post-thawed buck sperm quality. a total 16 ejaculates were collected from four buck (4 ejaculates from each buck) twice a week. after semen collection and primary evaluation, collected semen samples were pooled and divided into two equal parts. each part was diluted with one of the following extenders: 1) non-filtered lec...
