چکیده
Abstract Background Previous laboratory findings suggest deviant gait characteristics in depressed individuals (i.e., reduced walking speed and vertical up-and-down movements, larger lateral swaying slumped posture). However, since most studies to date assessed the laboratory, it is largely an open question whether this association also holds more naturalistic, everyday life settings. Thus, within current study we (1) aimed at replicating these results (2) investigated could predict change mood. Methods We recruited a sample of patients (n = 35) suffering from major depressive disorder age gender matched non-depressed controls 36). During 2-day assessment continuously recorded patterns, general movement intensity repetitively participant’s Results replicated previous found that as compared showed well posture during episodes walking. Moreover, independent clinical diagnoses, higher speed, movements significantly predicted subsequent positive mood, while changes mood did not patterns. Conclusion In sum, our support expectations embodiment relationship between bodily expression emotion processing itself) depression observable naturalistic settings, manifested way people walk. The data further motor displays affect life.

Mood congruence effect in explicit and implicit memory tasks: a comparison between depressed patients, schizophrenic patients and controls.
This study investigates mood congruence effect in explicit and implicit memory tasks in 23 inpatients fulfilling DSM-III-R criteria for major depressive disorder. Performances were compared to those of 15 in- or outpatients fulfilling DSM-III-R criteria for schizophrenia, and 37 normal subjects serving as euthymics controls. All subjects were submitted to a standard cued recall test and to a wo...

متن کاملCortisol and α-Amylase Secretion Patterns between and within Depressed and Non-Depressed Individuals
OBJECTIVES Associations between biological stress markers and depression are inconsistent across studies. We assessed whether inter- and intra-individual variability explain these inconsistencies. METHODS Pair-matched depressed and non-depressed participants (N = 30) collected saliva thrice a day for 30 days, resulting in 90 measurements per individual. The relationships between measures of s...
متن کاملTracking depressed mood using speech pause patterns
The speech of people with depression often shows clear signs of their condition (e.g., flat intonation, slow speech, long pauses), but it is not clear to what extent these signs covary with diurnal fluctuations in mood. In this paper, we report results from a pilot longitudinal study where 11 people with depression tracked various aspects of their mental health for a month. This included a dail...
