Gaining an insight into the importance of each inhalation manoeuvre parameter using altered patients’ inhalation profiles

The aerodynamic particle size distribution (APSD) and dose emission characteristics of indacaterol Breezhaler have been measured using ex-vivo methodology altering original COPD inhalation manoeuvre profiles to investigate the influence inspiratory parameters namely, peak flow (PIF), acceleration rate (ACIM) inhaled volume (Vin) by keeping two fixed varying other one. All had an impact on emission, emptying from capsule/device in order PIF > Vin ACIM. ACIM almost equal effect delivered (DD) fine (FPD) but was most pronounced. also greatest mass median diameter (MMAD). Producing optimal combining highest PIF, one single would improve both quantity quality aerosol. Making separate each prepared be useful. This replaying altered with breath simulator allows insight importance parameter which not possible conventional in-vitro Pharmacopoeial methodology.
