Fused deposition modeling (FDM) based 3D printing of microelectrodes and multi-electrode probes

چکیده
Electrode fabrication is one of the basic practices for electrochemists. Especially, microelectrodes are generally known as “hand-made” and their often like an art. In this work, we report a new protocol fabricating multi-electrode probes based on recently matured 3D Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) printing technique. The general concept to print half insulating body in PETG, insert (etched) metal or carbon wire(s) channel(s), resume complete whole electrode. printed electrodes then sealed by heating mechanically polished before use. process requires only low-cost non-specialized facilities that can be easily equipped even teaching laboratories. Single Pt, C, Au, Ag, W Cu with diameter below 5 µm fabricated examined cyclic voltammetry scanning electron microscopy. Furthermore, probe consisting W, Cu, Ag (oxidized Ag/AgCl) Pt also demonstrated pH (potentiometric) H2O2 (amperometric) sensing applications.

In this work, the use of fused deposition modeling (FDM) in a (bio)analytical/lab-on-a-chip research laboratory is described. First, the specifications of this 3D printing method that are important for the fabrication of (micro)devices were characterized for a benchtop FDM 3D printer. These include resolution, surface roughness, leakage, transparency, material deformation, and the possibilities...

متن کاملThree-Dimensional (3D) Printing of Polymer-Metal Hybrid Materials by Fused Deposition Modeling
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a three-dimensional (3D) printing technology that is usually performed with polymers that are molten in a printer nozzle and placed line by line on the printing bed or the previous layer, respectively. Nowadays, hybrid materials combining polymers with functional materials are also commercially available. Especially combinations of polymers with metal particle...
متن کاملApplication of Fused Deposition Modeling Technology in 3D Printing Rapid Prototyping Area
Rapid Prototyping (RP) can be defined as a group of techniques used to quickly fabricate a scale model of a part or assembly using three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) data. What is commonly considered to be the first RP technique, Stereolithography, was developed by 3D Systems of Valencia, USA. The company was founded in 1986, and since then, a number of different RP techniques have b...
