Furosemide Use in Chronic Kidney Disease Patients

Chronic kidney disease is defined as occurring for more than three months and characterized by a decreasing glomerular filtration rate, reaching below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 . Decreased function can reduce the kidney’s capacity to excrete sodium. Excess extracellular fluid will cause hypertension, lower upper extremity edema. Loop diuretics, such furosemide, are known increase sodium excretion 20%, thereby reducing amount of fluid. This study aimed determine patterns furosemide use in chronic patients at University Muhammadiyah Malang General Hospital. Observational, descriptive, retrospective data collection methods were used. The single pattern was given 25 (40%); two-combination 12 (20%); three-combination 9 (15%); four-combination five-combination 4 (5%). most commonly used (3 x 40 mg, intravenous [iv]), which administered 16 (73%); common iv) + amlodipine (1 10 oral), 2 candesartan oral) 5 mg) (23%); nifedipine clonidine 0.15 captopril (2 3 (28%); 1 patient (25%) with patterns. In short, there 22 switch therapy.
