Fungal and bacterial endophytes antagonistic to Phytophthora species causing root rot in Cinnamomum cassia

چکیده

Abstract Endophytes were investigated for their potential to protect Cinnamomum cassia (cinnamon) from Phytophthora root rot. From healthy cinnamon trees in diseased plantations, 134 bacterial and fungal endophytes isolated screened vitro ability antagonise the rot pathogens cinnamomi , P. multibullata × vanyenensis . Seventeen exhibiting high levels of antagonism (more than 45%) then tested a glasshouse study reduce impact infection seedlings. Trials using seeds or seedlings inoculated with an endophyte infested identified three expressing disease suppression (based on damage reduction) plant growth promotion. These Penicillium citrinum Xylaria curta Clonostachys rosea can potentially be used biological control cinnamon, but this must explored further under field conditions.

Identification of a new phytophthora species causing root and runner rot of cranberry in new jersey.

ABSTRACT In New Jersey, Phytophthora cinnamomi is the pathogen most commonly isolated from diseased roots and runners of the cultivated cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon). A second distinct species of Phytophthora has been isolated from dying cranberry plants and surface irrigation water. This species is homothallic with paragynous antheridia and ellipsoid-limoniform, nonpapillate sporangia. It ...

Antagonistic Activities of Trichoderma spp. on Phytophthora Root Rot of Sugar Beet

Trichoderma species are among important antagonists of plant pathogenic fungi. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the biocontrol potential of native Trichoderma spp. isolates from sugar beet fields against Phytophthora drechsleri and P. cryptogea, the causal agents of Phytophthora root rot of sugar beet. During 2007–08, 85 isolates of Trichoderma spp. from sugar beet fields in eight...

Glucanolytic Actinomycetes Antagonistic to Phytophthora fragariae var. rubi, the Causal Agent of Raspberry Root Rot.

A collection of about 200 actinomycete strains was screened for the ability to grow on fragmented Phytophthora mycelium and to produce metabolites that inhibit Phytophthora growth. Thirteen strains were selected, and all produced (beta)-1,3-, (beta)-1,4-, and (beta)-1,6-glucanases. These enzymes could hydrolyze glucans from Phytophthora cell walls and cause lysis of Phytophthora cells. These en...

BIOAUTOGRAPHY SHOWS ANTIBIOTic PRODUCTION BY SOIL BACTERIAL ISOLATES ANTAGONISTIC TO FUNGAL DRY ROT OF POTATOES

Twenty bacterial antagonists of postharvest dry rot of potatoes (caused by Fusarium sambucinum) were screened for the production of antibiotics by bioautography. Samples of liquid cultures of bacterial strains harvested at three growth times and extracted with three solvents at three pHs were used to directly detect antibiotics inhibitory to F. sambucinum grown on the surface of thin-layer chro...

Evaluation of The Effects of Allium Jesdianum Bacterial Endophytes on Some Bacterial and Fungal Pathogens

Background and Objective: The endophytes are the fungi or bacteria that live within a plant in a symbiotic relationship. This study aimed to investigate the effect of isolated bacterial endophytes from Allium jesdianum on some bacterial pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli as well as pathogenic fungi, including Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Candida albicans. Materials an...
