Functionality of Elaeocarpus serratus leaves on growth, meat quality and cost return analysis in broiler rearing

The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of olive leaves with probiotics (OLP) on growth performance, carcass characteristics, meat quality, blood parameters and oxidative stability in broiler. A total 160 day old, unsexed Cobb-500 chicks were distributed five dietary treatment groups: Control (Basal diet), OLP-1 diet + 0.4% OLP, DM basis), OLP-2 0.8% OLP-3 1.2% basis) OLP-4 1.6% having 4 replications 8 birds each a completely randomized design. Results showed that live weight, overall average daily gain (ADG) increased significantly (p<0.05) all groups compared control. weekly feed conversion ratio (FCR) reduced 0-14 days ADG improved 15-28 days. Blood cholesterol high density lipoprotein (HDL) except dressing percentage significant difference among Organs weight similar groups, although breast bursa differed groups. increase crude protein (CP) ash content relative Meat thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) decreased at 0.8%, 1.8% during 1st, 2nd, 3rd weeks value as well. Net return benefit cost (BCR) substantially control (p<0.05). Finally, OLP supplementation CP content, cholesterol, HDL net rutrun BCR while TBARS value. Thus, leaf can be potential source used additive broiler.
