Functionality limit of classical simulated annealing
By analyzing the system dynamics in the landscape paradigm, optimization function of classical simulated annealing is reviewed on the random traveling salesman problems. The properly functioning region of the algorithm is experimentally determined in the size-time plane and the influence of its boundary on the scalability test is examined in the standard framework of this method. From both resu...

We discuss a classical reinterpretation of quantum-mechanics-based analysis of classical Markov chains with detailed balance, that is based on the quantum-classical correspondence. The classical reinterpretation is then used to demonstrate that it successfully reproduces a sufficient condition for cooling schedule in classical simulated annealing, which has the inverse-logarithm scaling.
متن کاملA Mushy State Simulated Annealing
It is a long time that the Simulated Annealing (SA) procedure has been introduced as a model-free optimization for solving NP-hard problems. Improvements from the standard SA in the recent decade mostly concentrate on combining its original algorithm with some heuristic methods. These modifications are rarely happened to the initial condition selection methods from which the annealing schedules...
متن کاملSimulated annealing
Metaheuristics are general problem solving algorithms which abstract from the actual problem description. Therefore they can be easily applied to many optimization problems. Simulated annealing is a simple and fast metaheuristic with an analogy to metal processing. As metal particles generate a solid and regular structure when cooling slowing simulated annealing seeks a low-energy solution avoi...
متن کاملSimulated Annealing
Simulated annealing is a well-studied local search metaheuristic used to address discrete and, to a lesser extent, continuous optimization problems. The key feature of simulated annealing is that it provides a mechanism to escape local optima by allowing hill-climbing moves (i.e., moves which worsen the objective function value) in hopes of finding a global optimum. A brief history of simulated...
