چکیده

Introduction: Low back pain affects roughly 70–80% of people at some point in their lives. Lumbar disc prolapse is one the major reasons low that causes severe morbidity around world, affecting primarily working-class young population. We conducted this study to describe unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) discectomy technique for lumbar herniated with aim on how perform theses procedure safely while also preserving structures like facet joints through posterior interlaminar approach. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective between July 2019 2021. The total number patients included 41. A 54 levels were done. visual analog scale used assess lower leg symptoms, Oswestry Disability Index degrees disability, modified Macnab criteria overall outcomes treatment. Results: Following procedure, there significant improvement. ultimate excellent 24 (58.53%), good 15 (36.58%), fair 2 (4.8%), poor 0 patients, according criteria. That is, 95.11% had or results. Conclusion: UBE approach herniation minimally invasive both safe successful. There no soft-tissue degradation joint destruction.

Clinical comparison of unilateral biportal endoscopic technique versus open microdiscectomy for single-level lumbar discectomy: a multicenter, retrospective analysis

BACKGROUND The unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) technique is a minimally invasive procedure for spinal surgery, while open microscopic discectomy is the most common surgical treatment for ruptured or herniated discs of the lumbar spine. A new endoscopic technique that uses a UBE approach has been applied to conventional arthroscopic systems for the treatment of spinal disease. In this study...

Ossification of the Ligamentum Flavum

Ossification of the ligamentum flavum is a rare cause of thoracic myelopathy. It develops in East Asians more frequently than in people from other areas. The exact pathophysiology has not been elucidated yet; however, it largely depends on biomechanical alterations, especially changes in the tensile force. Because the spinal cord is compressed from the posterior side, the first and most common ...

Feasibility of interlaminar lumbar discectomy through percutaneous transforaminal endoscopy and blunt perforation of the ligamentum flavum.

AIM To determine the efficacy, safety, and clinical value of a novel surgical procedure involving the blunt perforation of the ligamentum flavum (LF) during endoscopic interlaminar lumbar discectomy. MATERIAL AND METHODS This was a prospective study of 50 patients (27 males, 17-51 years of age) undergoing lumbar discectomy for single segment L4/L5 or L5/S1 disk herniation were grouped into th...

Phenotypic Characterization of Ligamentum Flavum Cells from Patients with Ossification of Ligamentum Flavum

PURPOSE The objective of this study was to determine the phenotypic characterization of ligamentum flavum cells from patients with ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF). MATERIALS AND METHODS Ligamentum flavum tissues were harvested from OLF and non-OLF patients during surgery. OLF and non-OLF cells were isolated from explant cultures. Cultured cells were analyzed using immunofluorescen...

Ossified Ligamentum Flavum causing Cervical Myelopathy

Ossification of the ligamentum flavum (OLF) causing compressive cervical myelopathy or radiculopathy is rare. A 50-year-old male was admitted for progressive hypesthesia and paresthesia of both hands and a gradually worsening gait. MRI and CT scans demonstrated ossification of the left ligamentum flavum with dural sac and cord compression at the C5-6 level. The ossified ligamentum flavum was re...
