چکیده

The removal of fruit is a consequence plant–animal interactions, and vital step in the natural regeneration cycle plant populations. This research aimed to determine effect color local landscape on plant–bird interactions an agroecosystem Southcentral Mindanao, Philippines. We set out 1500 artificial models ten sampling locations within agroecosystem. measured difference proportion predated/removed (%) risk between sites, color, predators. Approximately quarter (24.53%) deployed were predated, predation was significantly higher red (mean = 18.74 ± 9.84) compared green 11.67 6.17). Birds most dominant predators mammals arthropods, contributed at least 60% fruits. Our findings are consistent with previous evidence showing birds’ preferences for darker colors. Although variables did not affect predation, tree cover may help increase these interactions. Overall, our study showed that agroecosystems can still support species frugivorous birds, as indicated by high rates, particularly birds permeate different layers demonstrate important implication habitat quality management agroecosystems. Enriching pioneer trees dark-colored fleshy fruits sustainable greening strategy would benefit frugivores producers this system.

Fruit color preference by birds and applications to ecological restoration.

Ecological restoration aims to retrieve not only the structure but also the functionality of ecosystems. Frugivorous birds may play an important role in this process due to their efficiency in seed dispersal. Color perception in these animals is highly developed, and then the colors of fleshy fruits may provide important clues for choosing plant species for restoration plans. This study aims to...

Another study reported that frequencies of WUPyV in URTIs (6.7%) and LRTIs cases (7.1%) were comparable (10). However, we found the incidence of WUPyV in patients with LRTIs (16.1%) was higher than in patients with URTIs (4.4%). Among WUPyVinfected patients with LRTIs, 71.4% were <1 year of a...

Color Preferences of Frugivorous Birds in Relation to the Colors of Fleshy Fruits’

Aviary experiments demonstrated that three North American fmgivorous migrant bird species often exhibit color preferences, when factors such as taste, nutrition, and accessibility to food sources are equal. Individual birds differed in initial color preferences, transitivity, and temporal stability of color preferences. There was little tendency of these birds to favor red and black, which are ...

The Avifauna of Mt. Kitanglad, Bukidnon Province, Mindanao, Philippines

Intensive inventory work on the Mt. Kitanglad massif of north-central Mindanao, Bukidnon Province, Republic of the Philippines, revealed a diverse avifauna. In all, 198 bird species were detected, of which about 172 were likely breeding in the area, placing the mountain among the most diverse sites that have been surveyed in the country. Three migratory species (Luscinia calliope, Turdus chryso...
