FRT Capability Enhancement of Offshore Wind Farm by DC Chopper

Offshore wind farms (OWF) are establishing their position to be the next strategy expand growth horizon of power production. For proper integration OWFs into existing grid, voltage source converter (VSC)-based high direct current (HVDC) transmission is being vastly utilized. stable operation these VSC-HVDC-connected need abide by fault ride through (FRT) grid codes. Though there many proposed solutions tackle FRT problem onshore farms, all them cannot applied OWFs. The respond faults depending solely on local measurements. Additionally, very few techniques available for capability enhancement doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based One notable solution use DC chopper resistor across HVDC line. No intelligent controller yet reported better control resistor. To enhance performance in enhancing DFIG-based OWF, a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based nonlinear proposed. Simulations carried out Matlab/Simulink environment reveal that PSO-optimized controller-based effective maintaining OWF systems. method provides than conventional chopper.
