Friction and wear properties of biomass-derived oils via thermochemical conversion processes

چکیده

Abstract Tribological properties of biomass-derived oils (bio-oils) were experimentally investigated, and the compared with that standard mineral used for lubrication purposes. Bio-oils obtained from fast pyrolysis (using poultry pine), gasification (“gasitar” using pine) hydrothermal liquefaction processes Scenedesmus Nannocholoropsis). The friction wear tests conducted a ball on disk tribometer test. results showed coefficient (COF) around 0.02 both gasitar bio-oil; whereas, catalytic non-catalytic had COF 0.1. measurements bio-oils lower followed by bio-oil “gasitar”. Nannocholoropsis highest amount wear, algal higher to other oils. chemical analysis indicated oxygen content, while nitrogenates. Gasitar hydrocarbon content nitrogenates making it favorable lubricating oil.

Biomass for thermochemical conversion: targets and challenges

Bioenergy will be one component of a suite of alternatives to fossil fuels. Effective conversion of biomass to energy will require the careful pairing of advanced conversion technologies with biomass feedstocks optimized for the purpose. Lignocellulosic biomass can be converted to useful energy products via two distinct pathways: enzymatic or thermochemical conversion. The thermochemical pathwa...

Entropy and Dissipative Processes of Friction and Wear

Friction and wear, often treated as unrelated, distinct phenomena, are manifestations of the same dissipative physical processes occurring at sliding interfaces. Friction force dissipates power and generates entropy. Wear irreversibly changes a material structure, often with loss of material. Associated with both friction and wear is production of irreversible entropy by interfacial dissipative...
