Frequency Stabilization of AC Microgrid Clusters: An Efficient Fractional Order Supercapacitor Controller Approach

An autonomous microgrid is often formed by incorporating distributed generators into the distribution system. However, have less inertia compared to traditional synchronous generators, and can cause system frequency become unstable. Additionally, as more clusters are integrated microgrid, instability increases. To resolve in cluster, this study proposes a supercapacitor control approach. The consists of several which integrate wind power solar PV, STP, fuel cells, aqua electrolyzers, diesel generators. Initially, small signal model developed facilitate design. A fractional-order controller augmented with small-signal stabilize microgrid. Furthermore, parameters optimized guarantee robust performance. proposed provides degrees freedom conventional controller. Time-domain simulations were carried out considering real-time scenarios test performance We observed that presented approach capable stabilizing all cases. outperforms existing approaches cluster.
