Frequency Reconfigurable Beam Scanning Squarely Modulated Reactance Surface Antenna with Period and Surface Reactance Control

In this study, a novel antenna design is proposed for designing frequency-reconfigurable wide-angle beam scanning and applied to squarely modulated reactance surface leaky wave antenna. The angle electronically steered with discretely (rough scan) continuously (precise by controlling the antenna’s modulation period at any fixed frequency, respectively. procedure provided using unit cell composed of parallel microstrip conductors varactors in between. controlled DC bias voltages varactors. Based on dispersion characteristic antenna, states different frequencies are designed. Although operation frequency can be arbitrary, model designed two 4.6 5.8 GHz. It was implemented, experimented demonstration method. shown an EM simulation that 72° 91° possible GHz bands, Also, some operational (beams) experimentally verified through utilizing switching circuit. numerical result experimental showed good agreement which verifies scheme.
