Frequency of gestational diabetes mellitus and associated risk factors amongst women attending antenatal clinic at a tertiary care hospital of West Bengal, India

Background: Women with gestational diabetes are associated adverse pregnancy outcomes. This study was conducted to evaluate prevalence of mellitus and risk factors amongst women attending antenatal clinic a tertiary care hospital west Bengal, India. Methods: Universal screening for done in 215 estimated age between 24 weeks 28 weeks. They were requested drink 75 gram glucose dissolved 300 ml water irrespective their last meal. Gestational diagnosed if 2 hour plasma value ≥ 140 mg/dl. Relevant history taken associations like age, parity, body-mass index, bad obstetric history, family previous macrosomia analysed statistically. Results: found that 14.9%.Statistically significant association tolerance maternal body-mass-index, macrosomia. Conclusions: Prevalence 14.9% which can be considered alarming its statistically significant.
