Frequency-domain analysis of black-hole ringdowns

چکیده
We propose a novel, frequency-domain approach to the analysis of gravitational-wave ringdown signal binary black holes and identification quasinormal mode frequencies remnant. Our avoids issues spectral leakage that would normally be expected (associated with abrupt start ringdown) by modeling inspiral merger parts using flexible sum sine-Gaussian wavelets truncated at onset ringdown. Performing in frequency domain allows us use standard (and now well-established) Bayesian inference pipelines for data as well giving ability readily search over sky position time, although we find it is necessary an informative prior latter. test our method analyze several simulated signals varying signal-to-noise ratios injected into two- three-detector networks. generally able place tighter constraints on remnant black-hole mass spin than time-domain analysis.

Search techniques for gravitational waves from black-hole ringdowns
The first kilometer-scale gravitational wave observatories, LIGO [1] and VIRGO [2], are expected to begin performing searches for astrophysical sources of gravitational waves in the year 2002. By this time, it will be necessary to have data analysis software for on-line searches. Because the anticipated signals are expected to be weak, near-optimal strategies for data analysis will be required ...
متن کاملOrganizational Black Hole Theory
There are issues in organizations that require new theoretical formulation. Hence, metaphorical theorizing is used in the study of organizations to interpret them and understand their complexities. In this method, the organization is likened to an entity and one of the key features of that entity is generalized to the organization. It should be borne in mind that most organizational theories ar...
متن کاملThick Domain Walls around a Black Hole
We discuss the gravitationally interacting system of a thick domain wall and a black hole. We numerically solve the scalar field equation in the Schwarzschild spacetime and obtain a sequence of static axi-symmetric solutions representing thick domain walls. We find that, for the walls near the horizon, the Nambu–Goto approximation is no longer valid.

متن کاملExcitation of low-frequency QPOs in black hole accretion
We study possible mechanisms of excitation of quasiperiodic oscillations in the accretion flow of black hole accreters in their hard spectral states, in the context of the ‘truncated disk’ model. Quasi-spherical oscillations of the inner ion-supported accretion flow (ISAF) can be excited by the interaction of this hot flow with the cool disk extending outward from it. The fundamental mode of (p...
