چکیده

In response to the escalating global energy requests and need address them in a sustainable manner, researchers have identified hydrogen as an vector that provides practical way store use from renewable sources. To make step forward, electrocatalytic properties for evolution reaction alkaline medium of graphite electrodes modified with combinations nickel phosphite free-base porphyrins were investigated voltammetrically. The sample obtained by combining respective 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-methoxyphenyl)porphyrin exhibited highest catalytic activity, surpassing observed specimens manufactured using individual catalysts thus providing enhanced water-splitting performance. best electrode displayed overpotential 0.43 V (at i = −10 mA/cm2) Tafel slope 0.14 V/dec. Since activity compositions containing metal salt has not been previously studied, investigation its outcome constitute original contribution growing literature, new opportunities obtaining better results than ones reported solely phosphite.

Nickel cobalt phosphides quasi-hollow nanocubes as an efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution in alkaline solution.

A template-engaged strategy is used to synthesize nanostructured metal phosphides with different compositions. Among the as-synthesized metal phosphides, nickel cobalt phosphides quasi-hollow nanocubes exhibit the best electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction in terms of lower overpotential and smaller Tafel slope in alkaline solution.

In situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...

Separating hydrogen and oxygen evolution in alkaline water electrolysis using nickel hydroxide

Low-cost alkaline water electrolysis has been considered a sustainable approach to producing hydrogen using renewable energy inputs, but preventing hydrogen/oxygen mixing and efficiently using the instable renewable energy are challenging. Here, using nickel hydroxide as a redox mediator, we decouple the hydrogen and oxygen production in alkaline water electrolysis, which overcomes the gas-mixi...

Quantum Monte Carlo for electronic excitations of free-base porphyrin.

Accurate calculations of allowed and nonallowed transitions in porphyrin are reported. Using the quantum Monte Carlo method in the diffusion Monte Carlo variant, the vertical transition between the ground state singlet and the second excited state singlet as well as the adiabatic transition between the ground state and the lowest triplet state have been computed for this 162-electron system. Th...

Composite Ni/NiO-Cr2O3 Catalyst for Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution Reaction.

We report a Ni-Cr/C electrocatalyst with unprecedented mass-activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline electrolyte. The HER kinetics of numerous binary and ternary Ni-alloys and composite Ni/metal-oxide/C samples were evaluated in aqueous 0.1 M KOH electrolyte. The highest HER mass-activity was observed for Ni-Cr materials which exhibit metallic Ni as well as NiO x and Cr2O3...
