Four approaches for description of stochastic systems with small and finite inertia

We analyse for approaches to elimination of a fast variable, which are applicable systems like passive Brownian particles: (i) moment formalism, (ii) corresponding cumulant (iii) Hermite function basis, (iv) formal 'cumulants' the Hermit basis. The accuracy and its strong order assessed. applicability performance two first also demonstrated active particles.
