Formulation and Characterization of Expandable Tablet of Diacerein using Swellable Polymers

Some of the drugs have poor absorption because a narrow window in gastrointestinal tract (GIT). To improve such GIT, gastro-retentive drug delivery techniques play an important role. Diacerein is antirheumatic used for joint pain and arthritis. The expandable tablets were prepared to attain extended therapeutic action Diacerein. Expandable formulated prolong gastric retention, enhance bioavailability candidate desirable size greater than diametric pyloric sphincter (i.e., 13 mm diameter) tablet after administration by technique. was using swellable polymers polyelectrolytes, i.e., HPMCK 100, PEO, chitosan, carbopol. proposed evaluated preliminary evaluation parameters, micromeritic investigations, all physicochemical evaluations including swelling index, weight variation, content, in-vitro release studies their kinetics. Method: wet granulation method preparation Result: from formulations studied phosphate buffer pH 1.2 at 37±5°C. net results conclude that formulation having HPMC K PEO with addition carbopol (formulation C1) showed maximum index as compared others. And it found C1 most superior reliable terms parameters studies. best obtained shown.
